I was influenced by the John Butler Trio to write a funk riff for the EP to complement the exciting side of being a young courtesan. The verses are in the key of E minor and we used a lot of open notes and bends to create the funk sound. The first solo at the end of the second verse was used to make the verse more interesting and create an effective build up into the second chorus. The breakdown section strips the song back to just the drums to allow the song to gradually build back up again and create a powerful last chorus.
